Nader Ghasempour, P.Eng.

Senior Geostructural Project Manager

Education

Geotechnical Engineering Research, University of Toronto
  • Ph.D. Rock mechanics, University of Tehran
  • M.Sc. Mining Engineering, Tarbiat Modares University
  • B.Sc. Mining Engineering, Sahand University of Technology

With close to two decades of experience, Nader has led geotechnical engineering efforts for heavy civil projects, infrastructures, and tunnels across the globe. His technical expertise is empowered by a P. Eng designation, a Ph.D. in Rock Mechanics, and a Project Management Professional certification.

Nader’s specialized focus centers on critical domains such as ground control, geotechnical monitoring, and stability analysis, with a particular emphasis on tunnelling operations. However, over his career path, he gained hands-on experience spanning all facets of geotechnical engineering, from initial investigations and designs to the execution of underground structures. These include projects involving tunnel boring machine operations and New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM)/Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) in both soil and hard rock terrains.

He has carried out Numerical Modelling in three and two-dimensional and developed a rock behaviour constitutive model during his research program. He has published technical papers in various journals and conferences.

Nader’s strength lies in his proficiency in team leadership and project management. Throughout his career, Nader has managed geotechnical teams and engineers in diverse group sizes to successfully deliver infrastructure, tunnels, underground structures, as well as precast and cast-in-place concrete facilities. His collaborative endeavours have seen him work closely with stakeholders, consultants, and designers, demonstrating proficiency in communication and project leadership. He possesses a wealth of knowledge in tasks such as project requirement analysis, estimating, specification and contract document review, as well as resource and schedule management.
