Alexander MacLeod joins GEI Canada as Senior Arborist

Certified Arborist and Registered Professional Forester expands GEI’s forestry expertise

GUELPH, Ontario, Canada (July 25, 2024) – Alexander “Alex” MacLeod, M.Sc., has joined GEI Canada as a Senior Arborist. A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) and an ISA Certified Arborist ON-2142A, Alex brings more than 12 years of technical and scientific experience in the arboriculture, forestry, and environmental industries.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Alex to GEI. His extensive experience in arboriculture and forestry is a great boost to our project delivery for engineering and design projects across all industry sectors,” says Shelley Lohnes, Vice-President and Senior Ecologist at GEI. “His qualifications as a Registered Professional Forester, ISA Certified Arborist, and Qualified Tree Risk Assessor will help us offer innovative solutions to complex land use and infrastructure challenges.”

As Senior Arborist, Alex is responsible for coordinating and supporting GEI’s arborist team with tree inventories and tree impact analyses for engineering (transportation, civil, and utility) and development projects. In addition, he will collaborate with staff to prepare and peer review arborist reports and tree preservation plans for a range of public and private sector clients.

“I was drawn to GEI for the team’s strong professional values and focus on providing clients with high-quality service,” says Alex. “I hope to become a valuable member of the team, and I would like to help mentor colleagues who have an interest in arboriculture and forestry.”

Alex holds a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Aberdeen and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Bangor University. He is an Ontario Professional Foresters Association (OPFA) Registered Professional Forester as well as a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and the OPFA.
