Ahmed Siddiqui joins GEI Canada as Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist

KITCHENER, ON (December 1, 2022) – Ahmed Siddiqui has joined GEI Canada as a Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist. He brings more than 12 years of experience in natural channel, floodplain and tableland wetland design, and construction management. Ahmed will also serve as Project Manager and Discipline Lead for GEI across the province of Ontario.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ahmed to GEI,” says Heather Whitehouse, GEI Canada’s Ecological Restoration Lead and Senior Ecologist. “Ahmed brings senior project management and staff mentorship skills in fluvial geomorphology. He has a wealth of experience in small and large-scale natural channel design, construction oversight, and monitoring for both the public and private sector. Ahmed’s also a great cultural fit for GEI and he’s already begun developing internal relationships in our Canadian and US offices.

A Professional Geoscientist, Ahmed has worked with municipal and land development clients on projects ranging from municipal class assessments to Endangered Species Act Overall Benefit permits, to planning development applications. As Discipline Lead, Ahmed will provide project management services, technical expertise, and mentorship in the fields of:

  • Rapid and detailed geomorphic field assessments;
  • Erosion hazard assessments;
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic modelling;
  • Conceptual and detailed natural channel and wetland design and construction;
  • Erosion and sediment control inspection; and
  • Post-construction monitoring.

Ahmed earned a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from York University. He completed his M.Sc. in Geography from York University, specializing in Fluvial Geomorphology. Ahmed’s thesis examined the erosive resistance of the bed material of Etobicoke Creek, a local urban watercourse. In his free time, Ahmed enjoys hiking, travelling, and trying new cuisines. He lives in Milton with his wife, daughter, and their dog.
